At my last job, instead of calling it a Christmas party, they called it Employee Appreciation Day. The decor was Christmassy/Winter, we had a gift exchange, meal and games with prizes and got our bonuses there. The last one, at a country club, I felt a bit sad and my executive director paid me an honor during his speech for being with the agency 13 1/2 years.
One year they had an ugly sweater contest. My co-worker Bryon didn't know anything about it. Unknowingly, he won - was it a triumph or an insult ? LOL ! That was so funny ! O Kate
